Richard asks the street painter Pascal for a portrait on the spot. As soon as he sat down on a chair and took off his hat, Pascal ran away. The word he uttered while being caught was 'Richard'. Richard invites Pascal to his house, and the story of Pascal moving back and forth between the past and the present in a mansion full of beautiful art begins...
